What this pathway is
The UK Skilled Worker route is a sponsored work route. It generally depends on a qualifying job offer from an approved UK sponsor, a certificate of sponsorship, an eligible role, and current GOV.UK requirements.
It is not a general job-search visa and it is not proof that an employer will hire you. Sri Lankan applicants should verify the employer and route before paying fees or handing over documents.
Sponsor and job checks
A job title or WhatsApp offer is not enough. Check the official sponsor register, role details, certificate of sponsorship information, salary, working hours, location, and whether the role matches your experience.
Health and Care Worker is a related route for eligible roles, but it has its own GOV.UK requirements and professional-registration considerations. Treat it as a separate source check, not a shortcut.
- Confirm the employer appears on the GOV.UK sponsor register or official sponsor information.
- Check the current Skilled Worker page for job, salary, English, funds, and document rules.
- Keep copies of the job advert, contract, sponsor details, payment receipts, and all recruiter messages.
- If a Sri Lankan agency is involved, check SLBFE licensed agency information.
Sri Lanka-specific preparation
Sri Lankan applicants should be careful with recruiters promising guaranteed UK jobs or guaranteed visa approval. The UK authority decides the application, and the employer must follow sponsor rules.
Prepare a UK-focused CV, evidence of experience, qualification documents, English evidence where required, and interview answers that match the role. Do not create or use fake documents.
Before you apply
Use GOV.UK as the final source for current requirements because salary, sponsor, and route rules can change. This guide is independent general information, not legal advice.
WorkAbroadX can support CV optimization and interview practice. It does not sponsor applicants, place workers, or guarantee visa approval.
